Some clients come to MK SNAP having had difficulties since birth, others who have been affected by injuries or severe illnesses. People accessing our services include those recovering from strokes, head injuries, autism, Downs Syndrome, epilepsy, and visual impairments. Some may be wheelchair users. Generally all our clients are excluded from traditional and mainstream training provision and employment options due to ability levels and associated emotional, behavioural and health problems.
The clients who come to MK SNAP do so from choice, and not as part of any criteria to a statutory benefit.
Often the person who has been the main carer is able to return to part-time work, thanks to the work of MK SNAP. Places are determined on an individual basis. Clients attend an initial interview to determine their needs and our ability to meet them. A place is offered once we know a client will benefit from being with us.
Objectives are agreed and an Individual Training Plan (ITP) developed. The progress of each client is monitored by assessments, reviews, and regular discussions between staff and clients which enables us to be flexible in meeting the changing needs and challenges of every client.
The parents of one of our clients, David Pimlott believes that “MK SNAP improves our quality of life. We know that David is safe, happy and secure when he is there, we have peace of mind; it makes all the difference
MK SNAP is a charity with a strong belief in “Valuing the Individual” because encouragement and support is the route to help everyone who comes to MK SNAP to reach their full potential.
