Volunteer Stories

Volunteer Stories

At MK Snap we are very fortunate to be able to count on a fantastic group of volunteers to compliment our staff and support a variety of daily activities. Below are the stories from the volunteers themselves:

“The friendly, happy, open airy environment of MK Snap makes it a pleasure to volunteer here. It has a unique secure  atmosphere in which learners seem able to enjoy kind, patient, friendship and support with enthusiasm and encouragement. Working alongside the dedicated staff and learners is a great pleasure and learning experience for me. What a great group of people”, Sue

“As a volunteer I have gained particular teaching skills in working with a variety of learners with various difficulties, which enables them to achieve their potential in a fun and educational way. I have been a volunteer with MKSnap for 2 years, while doing my Fine Art degree part-time at Oxford Brookes University. I have also been a ‘face-painter’ at their Disability Awareness Day event”, Sandy

“The learners are all individuals with different and varied abilities, and I feel very privileged being able to help them with the various cookery tasks required. I do whatever the tutor asks me to do which can include collecting equipment, helping learners put on their aprons, weighing ingredients, cleaning the tables and also washing up. I feel very appreciated both by staff and learners alike. I have been at MK Snap for over a year now and continue to enjoy it, in fact I have recently started helping on a Friday morning to”, Jo

“I have been volunteering at MK Snap for 3 years. I like volunteering at MK Snap because it gives me satisfaction that I am helping people, seeing them grow, and achieve”, Michael
