Tracey Crouch MP visits MK Snap
Tracey Crouch MP Visits MK Snap
Last month on October 12th we were very lucky to be chosen as one of the organisations that Tracey Crouch, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Sport & Civil Society) would visit. On this day she saw at first hand the facilities that Milton Keynes at 50 has to offer and how sport is promoted throughout the city.
During her visit to MK Snap she got to see and then partake in a Yoga session with the tutors and learners. It was a really fun session which Tracey threw herself straight into., taking to her mat and completing some pretty difficult yoga positions! She then got a chance to meet with the learners themselves, hear there stories and listen to why sport and the promotion healthy living is such a important part of the MK Snap timetable. The day was also filmed by the camera of BBC Anglia TV with a short piece airing that evening about the success of the National Lottery funding programme and how this money had helped us at MK Snap deliver the sessions we do. The money that the National Lottery have supports our work with community partners such as the MK Dons SET and allows us to create greater opportunities for our learners to increase there skills and try new things.
Following her visit Tracey mentioned us in one of her speeches to UK Active Conference on November 11th: “I recently visited a project in Milton Keynes called MK SNAP, which is using sport and physical activity to help those with learning difficulties. Activities like yoga and gardening are really making a difference to improve the quality of the participants’ lives” (read the full speech HERE)
We would like to take this opportunity to thank local MP Iain Stewart and Keith McClean for supporting this visit and giving us the opportunity to showcase what MK Snap to Tracey and a much wider audience.
