Anna Takes A Holiday

This work is for the project ‘Works from an Alternative Perspective.’

Working with learners on a project like this is fraught with challenges for both those delivering and those learning and it soon becomes apparent that both the delivering and learning practices were 360-degree processes where the learning rewards received by all were far greater than we had expected.

The course was split into six modules, texture and patterns, landscapes, self-portraits, street photography, macro and micro and your style. All were weather and transport dependent, but we managed through swapping elements over, to complete the programme and for the learners to create some beautiful photographs.

We focused on picking the subject, taking time to photograph, looking at things from different angles, working with light and adding a story. The most pleasing part was watching the learners’ using aspects learned in textures and patterns, macro and micro and landscapes across all of the weeks, which showed them adapting skills from one area to another and thus fully understanding what was important in a composition.

Most of all we had a brilliant time, it was great fun working with and watching the learners take on board some quite complex skills. I don’t think that I have laughed as much for many years, as we talked through subjects and settings and this was a just reward for a fantastic experience.
