With over 30 years experience of working with disabled people in the community

As a small local charity, a little help can make a huge difference. Your support is tangible; to sustain such a high quality and personalised experience for local people with learning disabilities we need to raise £250,000 each and every year.

MK SNAP has a dedicated team of qualified and specialist staff and a team of volunteers here to support adult learners, their families and/or carers.

Stories

We are so proud to include some samples of impressive examples of how aspirations have been boosted and lives changed.

This year, learners discovered new talents, skills and reached new goals through a one-to-one programme. Building new confidence to become more involved in home and social life outside of MK SNAP they have been able to gain a sense of pride in being part of the world of work which they may not otherwise be able to benefit from.

We are delighted to report the success of learners and hope you are inspired by the following case studies.

Ricky MKFM

Ricky was a learner at MK SNAP with a keen interest in the radio station. He is very technical minded and enjoys working with computers and sound. Through a partnership with MKFM, Ricky was able to gain experience, build confidence and life skills. We are very pleased to say that Ricky now works with MKFM and enjoys a very independent lifestyle.

Patricia

Patricia recently received a touching letter from our Lady-in-waiting, on behalf of The Queen of England and a beautiful postcard, thanking Patricia for all her work as part of the Worthy Women project with Stowe. Since being with MK SNAP we have seen Patricia go from strength to strength acting as an advocate for adults with disabilities and a long-standing member of the MK SNAP council.

Dawn

Dawn joined Routeco back in 2007 for a short work experience placement, to enable her to gain work experience within a business environment. 12 years later she is still with us, working one day a work across a number of different departments. We have seen Dawn grow and develop into the individual she is today, confident, very capable and eager to undertake a range of tasks, with a great sense of humour.

It has been beneficial to the organisation to be able to give something back to the community through the experience of work, to see Dawn develop and become part of the Routeco family.
